Well with the season less a week away we thought we better look at who we think is riding high in our preseason power rankings. Let’s take a dive into the Premiership rankings.

1 – London Warriors – Prem South

These guys are still the team to beat this season. Outside of the Exiles giving them a 10-minute scare and the Blitz finally giving team a close game last year after a few years of not getting close they made the season look easy in 2021.

2 – London Blitz – Prem South

The Blitz would have been below the Titans had they not given the Warriors a run for their money in the last game of 2021. If they have managed to recruit again and continue to up their game, they could be in position to get back up and challenge the Warriors.

3 – Manchester Titans – Prem North

A team that’s done everything right over the last 5-6 years and have built up a squad that can put up points in a hurry. Quarterback Sam Bloomfield was our 2021 season MVP and behind a giant offensive line will have the opportunity to go and challenge the two London teams.

4 – Tamworth Phoenix – Prem North

The Phoenix had another good season in 2021 and were very solid on defence. Their biggest games this year start week 1 against the Manchester Titans. The North division will go to one of these teams and the Phoenix offence will have to be able to move the ball effectively.

5 – Kent Exiles – Prem South

The Exiles gave the Warriors a scare for 10 minutes and ran the Blitz close and still only managed to win one game last season. They clearly have a great setup and have progressed year on year. If they continue to do so then they will be more competitive in the Premiership South this season.

6 – Bristol Aztecs – Prem South

The Aztecs comfortably won all their games last year, but we didn’t really see them play a really high calibre team. They are another team with a great setup and have the Pride and UWE bullets in the vicinity. If they can tap into these players and recruit them then they should have a solid squad.

7 – Solent Thrashers – Prem South

The Thrashers have been developing a very strong squad over the years. After winning Division 1 in 2019 they looked primed to compete in the premiership. They managed to topple the Olympians last year and their coach has gone on to win a Uniball title with the Bournemouth Bobcats last month.

8 – London Olympians – Prem South

The Olympians were on our radar last season to start building with the return of their head coach. A new look and online presence should allow them to develop and attract some players. They didn’t quite look like they were ready for it last year but still had some wins against top competition.

9 – Edinburgh Wolves – Prem North

The Wolves lost to the division 1 Pirates in 2021, however the Pirates are probably one of the best teams in Division 1 and they avenged it at the end of the season by shutting the Pirates out. The team always has a great defence and big offensive line and now with a new coach it will be interesting to see what they do. No matter who you ask, travelling to play them in Edinburgh is always tough.

10 – Merseyside Nighthawks – Prem North

The Nighthawks are another team that struggled against a Division 1 team last year when the Chester Romans ran them close. They lost heavily to the Manchester Titans but did manage to top the Sheffield Giants. Still expect them to put up a fight in every game they play.
