With only a few days before the scheduled kick-off in the NFC 2 South, the South Lincs Lightning have postponed their Away game with the Alphas.
BAFA removed the “Yellow card, Red card” system for forfeitures earlier this year, however this situation technically doesn’t fall under that scope due to BAFA allowing the game to be postponed instead of forfeited.
This leniency doesn’t prevent the Alphas from out of pocket losses for the game being postponed at such short notice, it will be interesting to see what sanctions may fall on South Lincs in this respect.
The Alphas are clearly frustrated and responded to the pullout on their social media saying:
“We regret to inform you all that the South Lincs Lightning have pulled out of our fixture this Sunday and therefore the game will be postponed.”
“This is the second time in two seasons that the team have decided to pull out of a scheduled game less than five days before kick-off – failing to fulfil their obligations as part of their membership of the league.”
“This comes after our first game against them this year in which they refused to play the third and fourth quarter until we offered to play all of our backups in an effort to get the game finished.”
