Game One – Kansas City Chiefs VS Los Angeles Chargers – Friday, September 16 @ 1:15am BST

On Friday morning, the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers in what is set to be a promising fixture. After a convincing win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the Chiefs will be looking to build on their opening week by quelling the fire of the Chargers.

The Los Angeles Chargers stifled a late resurgence from the Las Vegas Raiders to open their 2022 season with a 24-19 win – something they might not have been able to achieve in previous games.

Head coach Brandon Staley is now in his second season with the Chargers, and will be aiming to utilise the talents of young quarterback Justin Herbert, and his relationship with his receivers, DeAndre Carter and tight end Gerald Everett.

Despite the offence having a confident game on Sunday, nobody impressed more than newbie outside linebacker Khalil Mack. The defensive maestro had three sacks on Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, including one that effectively decided the game.

The Chiefs will have their work cut out for them, as they won’t expect the 44-21 score they achieved against the Cardinals. However, the Chiefs have strengths of their own – with quarterback Patrick Mahomes turning 21 of his plays on Sunday to 14 first downs.

This is an incredible return for a player who looks to be going into one of his best eras so far – but can he provide the goods against the Chargers? Other stand-outs from the Cardinals game included running-back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who scored two TDs from just three handles of the ball.

Tight-end Travis Kelce received the ball eight times, and scored one touchdown, with wide receiver Mecole Hardman and tight-end Jody Fortson grabbing TDs respectively.

Young running back Isiah Pacheco also nabbed a touchdown – so the Chiefs strengths come from all angles. What are your predictions for Friday Night Football?
